These are part of the Heinecken Studies where Lazarus used human ashes in a dark room. Check out his feature on Booooooom! where they explain more on the project and how he did each exposure. Too cool.
part of me can't believe that i drew these things. it pisses me off a little. i wish i still drew all the time in my moleskin with my bundle of pens, pencils and markers, everywhere i go and went. maybe it reflects just how nuts school and shit was for me back then and how i constantly had to throw it up somewhere. maybe i don't smoke enough pot anymore. maybe i don't care.
this is definitely one of my favourite fecal face interviews so far. i get so frustrated when artists i'm into don't or won't reveal their processes. i don't really think about paper layering too much when i skim through artists on the internet. you wouldn't be able to see the details to know on here anyways. Matt seems very thorough with the way he creates. he almost has to be. i think working like that all the time might be maddening for myself, but i want to give it a shot. check out the full fecal face interview here.
